Wandering round the garden in mid-month with my summer theme of flowers in mind, I had just decided that the sedums would have to wait a couple of weeks to gain their full colour when I saw this chap. It is a hummingbird hawkmoth native to Mediterranean countries but seldom seen here. I was so excited - no time for checking camera settings. Its little wings were a blur as it hovered to feed.
