The time of year for a spot of maintenance on the bells to make sure all nuts and bolts are tight, all bearings are greased, all ropes aren’t frayed, etc, etc. When you’ve got 12cwt (c.600kg) of metal swinging a full 360 degrees just above you it pays to make sure nothing will come adrift! There are 5 other bells similar but progressively smaller than this one to check over as well. And it’s freezing cold up here!!
