Year of the Snake

Finished!

October - Matt Hobbs

Photo of my wife in a huge crowd having just finished the Oxford half marathon in a personal best time, hands in the air with a look of elation on her face, having finally finished months of training!
October was a busy month. My wife ran the Oxford half-marathon to raise money for prostate cancer research. She aimed for £500 but raised more than £8,000 thanks to the generosity of many people whose lives have been touched by cancer. It’s worth remembering that in the UK, around 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in their lifetime.

What an absolutely amazing achievement, and we are all so incredibly proud of her.

Unfortunately, the crowd organisation was poor, with marshals giving conflicting directions. We were sent the wrong way and missed her crossing the finish line. Not ideal, but we did manage to find her among the 13,000 runners. This photo captures the moment she finally spotted us in the crowd!

She insists she has another full marathon in her, so now we are scouting for a European race we can turn into a family adventure. Got any destination ideas? We are all ears!
