Upon walking in the woods on a rare dry day this month, I discovered this beautiful bright orange fungus peeping out of a hollowed out tree trunk. It was composed of several layers of fungi ‘plates’ each having a crinkled edge. It was quite large and filled the hollow with its vivid display. A great find which some could well have missed!
‘Not been out much this November as where we are in South Wales we get Monsoon rain and it has been very wet this month. This one walk we did manage, revealed this beautiful bright orange fungus hiding inside the tree, an unusual place for a fungus as large as this. I haven't identified it yet but was bowled over finding this, being a fungus enthusiast!!!
