Radio Caroline

September - Bonnie and Richard

Radio Caroline
On the way to Norfolk, we stopped at West Mersea in Essex to have a tour of the Radio Caroline ship which is now moored in the estuary. The trip brought back many memories for Richard of the late 60’s with his small transistor radio late at night trying to get a signal to listen to the station. The tour was fascinating as they still broadcast and were doing so while we had the tour. In retrospect, we realised just how much the pirate ships changed the British music culture. The ship is now a rust bucket and now needs to go into dry dock for restoration. We hope enough money can be donated for this purpose.
