I've been going to Hay-On-Wye regularly all my life so have become used to seeing Hay Castle, but from the other side - which overlooks the main shopping street. For most of that time it has been either a fire damaged, dilapidated building, the actual home of the town's eccentric self-declared King - Richard Booth, or an odd network of freezing cold, run-down rooms housing yet more of Hay's many bookshops - but following its recent refurb, I think this might be the first time I've ever been able to approach it properly from this side.
